Meet our RawFIT ambassador - Hannah Merkin
This week, we sat down with our RAWFIT brand ambassador Hannah Merkin. Hannah is an ex professional ballerina who now has her own business as a Person Trainer and Stretching Coach. She is one of the newer additions to our ambassador team and we are proud to have her on board. Based on the sunny Gold Coast, Hannah really believes that following a balanced, healthy and active lifestyle is the foundation of living a happy, fulfilled life.
Extremely hard working and dedicated to everything she does, especially owning her own business, Hannah aims to inspire those around her to be confident in who they are, spread positivity and live a healthy lifestyle. Here’s what she had to say, enjoy!
What is your favourite holiday destination and why! I have been to so many beautiful places and love travelling. I would probably have to say America as half of my family is there and it's my second home!
What advice would you give to people who want to start moving towards a more active lifestyle in 2020? I get asked this question quite often and it gets linked to starting 'New Year's Resolutions'. I believe there is no better time to start than now. No matter what type of goal you have, there's no use in delaying getting started. Start now. I always recommend my clients to start with small changes that can be implemented into their everyday life until it becomes how they live.
What does your ideal morning look like? I usually wake up early and like to start my day with my Amazonia Greens before anything else! Then I have a coffee, do some reading and get into my day. Whether I have clients, go to the gym or the beach. I love my job, so everyday I am grateful for what I get to do!
What does your training schedule look like? My training used to be quite similar everyday. Now variety is my best friend. I will try anything and everything from boxing, running, pilates, HIIT, strength training, yoga, walking, crossfit, plyometrics. As I am also working around a long-term back injury I make sure to do my physio prescribed weight training to support and strengthen. No matter what type of exercise I am doing I will always end with a stretch! I think this is so important to prevent injuries, increase blood flow, speed up recovery and release muscle tension.
What are your top tips on staying motivated and sticking to a routine or 'diet'? In order to stick to a routine you need to have one that fits with your lifestyle. I know too many people that dive head first and do more than they can manage. I always recommend to start slow and build as your fitness levels and adherence increases. Then you won't want to miss a day! With 'diets', just don't call it a diet it's the same thing with an exercise plan each week, if you don't like it, you won't stick with it. Find something that suits your lifestyle and keep at it one day at a time - because small changes over a long period time result in big changes!
How would you describe your style of training/what is your favourite activity? My favourite way to exercise is anything that gets my heart rate up and leaves my face red and sweaty! I love weight training and functional movements to help me feel stronger and release endorphins.
If you could eat one thing, for the rest of your life what would it be? WOW that is so hard hahah. Probably a combination of avocado, almond butter and sweet potato.. oh and Amazonia RawFit Thermo burn in chocolate truffle
Who are your biggest food, fitness and lifestyle inspirations at the moment?
(With their handles x) There are sooo many people that inspire me but a few are @stephclairesmith @karinaelle and @natacha.ocean. They are all such beautiful strong women that empower other women, share great recipes, workouts and lifestyle inspo!!!
